Inspiration & Simplicity
These past few weeks have been crazy! To all of the lovely people who have been inquiring about having cakes made...thank you so much for your patience.
I decided to focus on one thing in this post. That thing being inspiration...I have been asked time and time again where I draw my thoughts from and decided that I should touch on a few things.
Tons of things fuel my inspiration to bake and create...inspiration can be found in every direction. I was lucky enough to be able to work with one of the most celebrated restaurant pastry chefs in America (and in my opinion, one of the very best), Hedy Goldsmith. It was through her that my style developed itself...her belief is that if it's going to taste like something, then it should TASTE like something...whether it be orange or popcorn flavoured...I learned to work with food and balance flavour like I never thought possible. With that being said, once there was flavour, food was simple. That is what I like. Intentionally "messy" drips of frosting or glaze, perfectly glazed slices of fruit, partially popping out of a flaky pie crust...this makes dessert so much more enjoyable, knowing its origin. Unpretentious.

I feel that simplicity is one of the most underrated aspects in today's cuisine. I longed for the moment when I could just bake an insanely good piece of cake and that could be enough. And it has now come to my attention that I have succeeded in at least getting one (or two) steps closer to achieving that! My love for dessert, for food -has transcended into something that others can appreciate. Thank you again for your continued support as I try to make Scratch something great.
There is so much more in store and I can't wait to be able to share it all with you. But as it is with everything else, there is a time and place for everything! Though Scratch is still in its infancy, it is so humbling to have the support that I've had thus far...
